How To Get The Most Out Of Your Liquid Highlighter

As a professional makeup artist brand, we are often asked how to use certain products. Highlighter, is one such product that can be confusing for many people. Here we answer the most asked questions so you too can apply your highlighter like an expert…

Everything you need to know about liquid highlighter

Where to put highlighter?

Many people get confused between highlighter and blusher, or at least confused by where you should put them in relation to one another. Highlighter should be applied to the high points of your face, where the light would naturally hit and reflect. This includes the tops of your cheekbones (not the apples of your cheeks), where it can be blended into your blush and bronzer.

You can stop there but should you wish to dial up the luminosity, apply a small amount of highlighter to the tip your nose, the very center of your eyelids, to your browbone just underneath the arch of your brow, and onto your Cupid’s bow.

How to apply liquid highlighter?

Whether you chose to use a brush or your fingertips you should dispense liquid highlighter onto the back of your hand first, rather than directly onto your face, so you can control the amount of product and the placement. Make sure your skin is well hydrated before taking some of the liquid highlighter from the back of your hand and pressing it into place onto the top of your cheekbones and anywhere else you want to add glow. Pat and blend out the edges so it melts into your skin and appears seamless. Want more glow? You can layer up the highlighter in areas you want more luminosity.

When to apply highlighter makeup?

The general rule of makeup application, and the one subscribed to by Laura Mercier makeup artists, is to apply all your cream and liquid products first and then layer your powder products on top. This prevents the formulas breaking down.

What liquid highlighter should I use?

RoseGlow Liquid Highlighter comes in three shades. Champagne Pink is a neutral light pink with a touch of shimmer, Gold Glow is a warm gold shimmer, and Peach Bronze is a warm peachy tone with shimmer. All three shades work with all skin tones so your shade choice should be influenced by what you’re wearing, the rest of your makeup, and the look you want to create. Each shade is infused with a blend of pearls inspired by rose gold metal and has been formulated with soft silica powders for a flattering blurring finish.
